For weeks I have been counting down how many shifts I had left to work before I could finally spend a weekday morning sleeping in without guilt. So what time did I roll out of bed yesterday morning? Noon...or later? How about 7 a.m? And today, day 2...again, 7 a.m. What's with that!!
Today we took a road trip to have a change of scenery. Kier and I drove to Truro to watch some of the National Police Curling Championships. It was 2 years ago that we represented NB in the nationals which were held that year in Nfld. It was nice to see some familiar faces again representing their provinces. Now for those of you that have never attended a curling bonspiel, and would like to re-create the excitement of the sport, just follow these steps:
1) Open a can of paint
2) Use a brush or roller to apply paint to a 3 foot square on the wall
3) Pull up a chair and have a seat in front of the wet paint
4) Watch the paint dry
Don't get me wrong...curling is fine when you're playing it...but to watch, I think it's right up there with watching golf. But it was nice to see and speak to old friends and acquaintances.
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY: I've been in the market for a new netbook. The one I have is slowly starting to break down with small things going on it. I had heard from someone that the IPad was a fabulous piece of hardware and could do everything. I stopped in to Future Shop to have a look at one and see if it was something I'd like. There's no doubt it's very sleek and would be great for travel, however, it only has an onscreen keyboard which is great for the new generation who are used to texting on cell phones so only type using thumbs or one finger. For those of us that have mastered keyboarding, it would take me twice as long to send an e-mail or type my blog entries. So now I'm looking at another basic netbook to replace the one I have. So, what I learned today is this...New is not always better!
Tomorrow is going to be the first day of my new fitness regime...oooh, I'm so excited, I won't be able to sleep tonight ! ;)
